Place Rouppe is in the centre of Brussels and has several nice bars and restaurants surrounding the roundabout.
There is a bar “Houtsiplou” with a very large terrace, they serve juices, salads, main courses and other beverages and snacks. The quality is high and the prices are low. The people who serve there are very sweet and fast. The high ceiling inside enlarges the place and the windows let in a lot of light.
Place Rouppe is in the middle of rue du Midi, with a great photography shop and two musical instruments shops (guitars and drums) and the Stalingradlaan. The Stalingradlaan has several Moroccan food shops and restaurants, two Moroccan bakeries, fish restaurants and coffee bars. This area is a wonderful entrance to the center and offers a lively atmosphere.

Place Rouppe is off the beaten path. It is about a 12 minute walk from the Grand Place and not far from the Manneken Pis. If you like a place with a Bohemian feel this is it. There are book stores, shops for musicians (rock and roll mostly), an artist supply store, etc. It is not touristy. It is super noisy due to traffic and commotion. I’m staying at Hotel A La Grand Cloche (it’s OK) and look out onto the fountain at Pouppe Place. The traffic drives in a circle around the fountain. I bought some yogurt, ham and bread and cheese at a market just off Place Rouppe and they were nice. I haven’t seen anyone that looks like a tourist here yet. I am sure there are tourists (I’m one), but they don’t look like tourists. It’s more of a place to experience Brussels than a place to take pictures.
