Creart is short for the “Center for Creation, Art and Tradition of the City of Bucharest”. You can just refer to it as Creart. Or “Gradina cu filme” (The Backyard with Movies). Or “Copacul cu carti” (The Book Tree). Or Teatrelli (no need for a translation here).
In short, it’s a chameleonic place. For this summer, they’ve opened their small backyard for a nice glass of wine or tea and open air movies every night – from oldies but goldies to contemporary ones. I particularly love the chairs, which are similar to the ones you can find on movie sets and have actors/actresses names written on the back. I sat on Javier Bardem 🙂 (the chair, of course!).
Creart is also behind some of the coolest events in town this summer, such as the Book Tree in Cismigiu Gardens, where people can sit on fatboys or rocking chairs and read a book from the ones… in the tree! OK, not a regular living one, but you get my point. They also host concerts and theatre shows inside the main building as well, the architecture of which is also worth stopping by for.
I find that Bucharest is quite unmissable this summer – even for me, and I’m a local! What do you say, see you at the movies in the backyard?
