Fancy some delicious traditional Turkish food in Bucharest? Then Efes might be just the place for you.
It’s mostly a take-away cafeteria-looking food stop serving delicious food made by a Turkish chef. Don’t expect an upscale, highly decorated, picturesque place or a very large variety of meals. Also, don’t be surprised if your food is served in plastic plates, just expect to eat amazingly good food – from the famous lintel soup, which is always the soup of the day, to chickpeas stew and moussaka. The guy behind the counter is as chirpy as anyone selling such delis can be, and always ready to negotiate with you for one of the place’s recipes, “the Turkish way”, as he puts it :).
I usually go for take-away to enjoy either at home or in one of the nearby small parks. Efes is something you should try if you want to add a little variety to the mainstream Bucharest food offer.
