There is this area in central Bucharest with the perfect combination of architecture, cultural venues, quiet and leafy little spots and delicious food. You’ll find me talking a lot about the Athenaeum – Kretzulescu area since here are some of my favorite spots: my favorite place for a walk, my favorite bookshop, an intimate and quiet restaurant and today’s special: éclair heaven – French Revolution.
You have to love a place that picks just one dessert and makes it its passion, its obsession, experimenting until perfection is reached. French Revolution picked eclairs and went the whole nine yards. They’ve put mango in it, basil, Chantilly cream, salty caramel…don’t even get me started.
And they didn’t just make eclairs, they made moments. A moment on a quiet bench, in the little Kretzulescu Park, with a “Framboise Chantilly” éclair in one hand and a tiny cup of hot espresso in the other.
Or maybe eclairs in both hands, nobody’s judging here…
