Anker Klub is located in the very center of downtown, at Metro Station Deák Ferenc square – and ideal meeting point, because it is easily accessible from anywhere. The bar got its name from the building: originally it was the headquarters of the Anker Insurance Company, and it was built in 1910. There is a nice tension between the hundred-year old eclectic palace and the clean minimal black and white interior.
Anker klub is kind of a chameleon-place. During the day it works as a menu-place, offering interesting meals at favorable prices. I like to come here when I have the chance, because I can choose from many special and interesting options, and I can have a lunch of three dishes for 1400 HUF.
At night it becomes a club with DJs, enough place to sit around with friends but also to dance. Sometimes it plays host to cultural and other events, like Pesthajnal, which is a pre-work event with breakfast, music, free yoga classes, or like Creative Mornings with presentations of the most interesting Hungarian creatives.
And now they even have a terrace!
