I once heard a legend that said there was an honesty box crêpe shop in Budapest. It turned out to be true: the shop exists in a kind of community space where you can also repair your bike (self-service) – all in one place.
On the menu they have pancake burgers, salty & sweet pancakes with different kinds of toppings. The drink list is just about syrups. We had the sour cream, cheese-ham combo and nutella-banana. I found it fresh and yummy. You can see how they make it.
Actually the biggest challenge was finding the place – even standing in front of it, we couldn’t recognise it: they do not have any kind of sign or menu, plus it is underground, so extra hidden. It has a fun environment and old board games for party-play. It reminds me a bit of the Jewish district ruin bars, e.g. Szimpla.
Apart from Thursdays to Saturdays, Bajnok Pali opens at random, so check out their social media before you go.
All in all, this place is quite homey. They provide you with space to have fun with your friends.
I appreciate this concept and would be happy to see them do well!
To get there by metro, get off at Kodály Körönd stop (Metro line 1).
