Budapest Music Center (BMC) is one of the most impressive examples of the fun district that rose behind the Great Market Hall lately.
The building (close to Bálna and Trapéz) is located right next to my former university, so I followed the birth of the place day by day. At the beginning I was wondering where the construction works were heading to, then shortly I found myself performing on the stage of BMC, this beautiful modern, neoclassicist style building.
The opening ceremony got huge media attention last March, some people already call it the new Mecca of classical and jazz music.
The idea of BMC is to give space to young talents and it is also known for its concert hall specifically designed for chamber music, the first of this kind in the country.
Education is also a part of the mission, a music library and information center, classrooms and conference rooms are also found on the 4000 quadrat meters. Plus Opus Jazz Club, where one can listen to international stars while having a delicious dinner, a toothsome fine burger for instance.
