I had a “doorstep stampede” and second thoughts with Cydonia because it looks a bit girly from the front door, but I did finally decide to pay visit for a cup of tea and cake after my lunch nearby. I am very happy to have taken that first step!
The shop is a small vintage coffee and teahouse with a stylish interior, something I’d never experienced before. They have a short list of teas, coffees and soft drinks, with daily offers on desserts, which is cool. My experience with the creamy sponge cake with mango topping was heaven. Not the fancy kind you find in a patisserie but the kind of tasty my mother would make. They put their heart into it. This is what I feel in every cup of tea, in every greeting or honest smile.
The owners are there usually, which says a lot about their attitude with the business and guests. I like it when you have a conversation about what you order and not just make your pick, and I love it when they remember me and what I had last time!
