If like me, you are allergic to Starbucks but still like to enjoy good coffee-to-go, Fekete is your spot! Even on Sundays! OK it’s a bit “hipsterish” but not too much! Anyway, right now Budapest is having a great “renaissance” of its coffee culture with spots such as Espresso Ambassy (check my Espresso Ambassy article or Cucc) and many others.
The coffee brewed at Fekete is equally outstanding. One detail that makes it different is that your cup is served “right on the street”, in a tiny, cosy pop-up looking store, on the “kis körút” (the small boulevard), meaning Múzeum körút.
The place has 2-3 chairs inside, so for that matter they have proper takeaway packagings. The good news is that Fekete has a very cute yard where you can sip your coffee (including another room inside). They also serve special filtered coffees and simple food.
It’s the perfect place to get delicious thick lattes, fine teas and homemade cakes (as well as various yummy snacks and even fruit syrups). The owners also run the wonderful shop next door called “cukorka” and you can get some samples at Fekete too.
That was enough for this well-named café (Fekete means “black”) to become part of my (almost) daily ritual as I bike home via the bike path right outside their door!
Hats off also to the designers for their pure, trendy and elegant style, totally matching current Budapest requirements!
