Margitutcakilenc is a little piece of the countryside in the heart of Buda, and it was built with the mission to create a community and to serve only good quality food.
It is located close to one of the most magical streets in Budapest (Gül Baba Street), and the must-see attraction, Gül Baba’s Türbe can be easily approached by crossing the garden.
Margitutcakilenc was designed by a group of young architects, who had a low budget, so they created a simple, honest place with natural materials. It consists of two one-storey buildings with a long garden in between them.
The main functions are community place, bar, handicraft and farmers’ market, but nothing is strictly determined: the place acts like a frame, and you can draw anything inside of it. Margitutcakilenc gives place to several events: movie nights, workshops, performances, public cooking at weekends, etc.
The people working here are nice and genial, and they always treat you like an old friend. The place is changing in an organic way: for example, you will find something new in the little shop every time you come here, following the seasons and the recent creations of the local craftsmen.
At the buffet they sell various sandwich combinations, cakes, craft beer and wine, and of course, pálinka.
If you want to find a nice unique spot with good service, tasty food and drink, to experience something from rural Hungary, or just simply have a good time, Margitutcakilenc will be the right place for you!
