Ok, this is NOT a fancy spot and nothing to do with the Italian pizzas of Pizzica (check the Pizzica article) but it’s truly a local addictive in its own way food landmark! I guess one could make all sorts of sociological observations at this famous pizza place on Király. It’s simply where everyone “meets”, from policemen on duty to stag party tourists.
It’s probably the cheapest pizza slice you can get in town (250 Ft/piece!) right in the middle of the nightlife district, open 24h a day except on Sunday (closes at 23:00)!
The thing is, pizzas are surprisingly decent, not to say delicious when they come right out of the oven and when you need a refill after a few (too many?) drinks! And what’s more the size of a slice is quite remarkable.
Yes, the dough is fluffy and ingredients are probably not the best quality but the choice is usually decent (salami; feta and bacon; bolognese…), and as a rule there is also a vegetarian option (I said as a rule… and it’s generally an all cheese pizza!).
The service is quick even when you have to queue, and yeah, the place is really tiny and not appealing inside. But no panic, slices are served to go and you can sit on the nearby benches, by the yellow church.
If you happen to be spending a night in the 7th-6th district (which I’m sure you will!), I bet you’ll stop there at some point!
