Finding steakhouses in Chicago is not difficult, but what intrigues us about El Che Bar is the live-fire cooking. The technique imparts a unique flavour which most steakhouses are missing out on! The 12-foot wood-fired grill is used to prepare most of the food that goes out of the kitchen, including the South American-flavoured meats and seasonal vegetables. It is a carnivore’s paradise. We love going there with a few friends so that we can order a variety of their mains and sides to be able to enjoy so many different flavours. My favourites are the grilled beef short rib and I love the chimichurri sauce. The restaurant also has a comprehensive wine list which is why we keep going back as we really love our Malbecs. The cocktails are innovative and delicious.
The staff is warm and friendly and the ambiance is cool and trendy. It is comfortably located in the West Loop, not far from Randolph Street so you can go enjoy the nightlife after dinner and drinks here. It is a perfect spot for a date, or dinner with friends.
