Homemade ice cream and candy, enough said. You really can’t go wrong with chocolate and ice cream, but George’s Ice Cream & Sweets sets itself apart from the competition with a familial atmosphere and supreme quality.
George’s has a great set-up for all types of occasions. The inside is full of whimsy and fun with bright colors and hand drawn menus. You’ll find a chalk mural of a banana split and local event fliers adoring the walls. There are plenty of areas to sit including comfortable chairs and couches that lend themselves to great conversation.
The ice cream at George’s is as good as it gets. They bring in over 30 homemade flavors from a shop in Wisconsin. You can choose to get the ice cream in sundaes, in a cup or in a variety of cones. Flavors range from classics like cookie dough to specials like bourbon pecan pie. If you can’t decide on a flavor, that’s ok. The staff is beyond friendly and will allow you to sample as many flavors as you’d like.
Ice cream isn’t the only reason to visit George’s Shop. The store also serves homemade truffles and baked goods that are more than worth the trip to this north Chicago neighborhood. Local bakeries and coffee makers supply the superb ingredients.
