America’s favorite pastime, baseball, is celebrated in almost every major city in the United States and Guaranteed Rate Field is the best place to see it in Chicago. Home of the White Sox, this historic south side team plays 82 games a year on the corner of 35th and Shields. The ballpark is modern with huge TV projections and yet classic with ivy growing up brick walls.
The White Sox ballpark has always been and will always be a family friendly place. I’ve been many times as a child with my family and now as an adult with friends. While adults will appreciate the game on the field, there are plenty of additional activities for the kids. Fireworks, scoreboard games, music, in between inning shows and mascots make this more than just a place to catch a baseball game.
The food at the park is always changing and top of the line for ballpark grub. You can’t go wrong with an all beef Chicago-style hot dog and a locally brewed craft beer. I always opt for the nachos in a replica helmet.
The best part about Guaranteed Rate Field is that you aren’t confined to your seat. I like to walk around the concourse and take in the game from different views. The fan deck in center field gives a perfect perspective of the game. No matter where I find myself at park, the action on and off the field could not be better.
