For the older crowd, or those folks who do not care for dancing as much, there are other places in Boystown to see. Historically, the epicenter and most widely successful gay bar in Chicago is called Sidetrack. The owner is a great guy who runs his bar very well. It’s classy, they have music videos playing all the time and they host humanitarian events here moderately often. There is a nice rooftop deck and the drinks are freely poured so if you are nice to the bartender I hear they are nice to your glass.
Sidetrack opened before the neighborhood was nice and it has stuck around because it is just a quality place run by quality people. Loads of people like the slushies made with high quality alcohol. Personally I feel they are just too sweet for me so I stick to classic drinks over there. This place has many bars with different themes that change every so often. If you do go to Sidetrack and you are a straight male like myself understand that you will be hit on. If you are gay and want to enjoy the scene this is the place to be. If you are a lady, whether gay or straight keep in mind this bar is filled mainly with men that have no intention of hitting on you.
