The name may not mean much to those who haven’t participated, but WhirlyBall always makes me feel like child in the very best way. The namesake game WhirlyBall involves two teams trying to scoop a whiffle ball into lacrosse like sticks and throwing the ball at raised goals. Now imagine doing that while zooming around a small rink in bumper cars. It’s wildly fun and especially a great time with a large group of friends or family.
The WhirlyBall complex also has a bar, multiple bowling lanes and laser tag. I go just for the Whirlyball but there are plenty of activities to fill a whole day. The complex is also riddled with TVs playing sports and has plenty of areas to just relax and have a drink and a snack. There is a great selection of craft beer and a nice pub-style food list that features appetizers, sandwiches and more.
I’ve been to WhirlyBall for a work outing and also just with friends. The best way to enjoy the day is to grab a few drinks to loosen up and then go full-steam on the courts. The games do get competitive, but are always in good fun.
