What is Germany famous for? Beer and Bread!
The best bread, rolls and cakes in town you will get at the Bäckerei Güsgen. My favorite for a Sunday breakfast: a fresh croissant together with homemade honey, followed by a pumpkin seed roll. On weekdays I usually go for the multi-grain bread.
When you go there on Saturday or Sunday mornings you should make sure you have enough time. The bakery is no longer an insider tip, the whole of Nippes is lining up for fresh rolls then. Admirable is the stoic calmness and friendliness of the shop assistants. No matter how long the queue is, they always have time for a little chat. A good opportunity to train my patience ;-).
But it’s definitely worth the wait. And don’t be too late, what’s gone is gone and there aren’t fresh rolls the entire day.
P.S.: little shoppers do always get something to eat!
