In recent years, pop-up stores have opened up in almost every big city. But have you ever heard of a pop-up restaurant? Here it is!
Laden Ein has a great concept: Instead of changing the menu every now and then, in this restaurant EVERYTHING changes, except the location in Nippes. New types of food, new chefs, and new prices every fortnight. That means you can go to your favorite restaurant every other week and still be surprised by different tastes, be it hummus or sushi, Latin American cuisine or burgers!
One thing I really like is the open kitchen right behind the counter. You order and pay there, so no matter what, you’ll get a sneak peek at how your food is prepared. They also have a fridge with different types of craft beers and other drinks.
The interior is rather simple and more stylish than cozy. With two long rows of wooden tables and benches, there is not a lot of space. The hanging garden is an eye-catcher that reflects the uniqueness of the restaurant concept.
Often, street-food vendors or people running catering services find their temporary ‘home’ here. The first time I went, j.kinski was the temporary tenant and served amazing burgers. That’s the downside that comes with the concept: I wish they could have stayed there forever…
