This is one of my favorite bars in the city, and if you go there, you will understand why. It opened in 1922 and interior-wise, not much has changed since. The name “Intime” is not without meaning because when the place opened, it had small, closed booths for the guests to which only the bartender had access. This meant that it was a good place for secret meetings, and it became reputed as a bar where homosexuals could meet in peace. Still today, many gays and lesbians come here, but it’s a bar for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation and age. Particularly the last point is quite amazing: one evening here, and you will truly see people from 18 to 90! Today, the private booths are no longer here, but there is definitely still a very intimate and sultry atmosphere, with red-painted walls and a piano that is played by a pianist on some evenings, particularly friday and saturday. Every evening, there is some kind of entertainment. If I want to get a table, I come around 21 o’clock, but the bar is also a great place to sit as it’s a place where it’s very, very easy to chat with strangers, who, the next time you visit, will be strangers no more.
