Den Franske Café Copenhagen (by Morten Pors Nielsen)

Let it be said right away: I like this place best in the summer. As a café, it is very nice with a tasteful interior and the kitchen and bar are capable of providing a good mainstream product. And this, of course, goes both winter and summer. But in the summertime, its location on the lakeside of one of Copenhagens large, artificial lakes, makes it a gem.

Den Franske Cafe is located on the dividing line between inner Copenhagen and the residential areas of Østerbro. And therefore lends itself perfectly to being a waypoint on a walk along or around one or more of those lakes. Then you can sit and rest outside, under the trees and watch the swans, or people on an evening stroll as you drink your café au lait. Not at all bad.

The menu offering is actually quite broad with typical café/bistro dishes and a breakfast or brunch menu all mornings. And there is a bar capable of beers, wines and even a couple of different cocktails.

Prices are fair to average.
