Hornsleth bar is a club which is always tightly packed during the weekends, playing mainstream pop and danceable music. In here you’ll find every “type” from the young night scene in Copenhagen – for some reason they all seem attracted to this place. The entrance is 30 kr which will give you either a free coat stub or a shot at the bar. The minimum age is 23.

The music is, as said, mainstream, the bar is expensive, unless you stick with beer, and the room is stuffed with so many people that you have to push through the crowd when it’s full. To sum it up it’s like most other pop clubs in Denmark.

But there is something different, because Hornsleth has painted and decorated all of the walls. The artist Hornsleth is well known in Denmark for his provocateur style. It’s always heavy coloring, stripes running down the paintings and often aggressive wording and/or pictures of naked ladies, Jesus and/or guns. This means you drink your whiskey and coke with a picture of a girl surrounded by erect penises on the wall and wash your hands by the mirror with the writing “Suck – fuck – luck – Hornstleth”.

It’s provoking in a childish way, but it is worth a look, since I think it says a lot about Danish mentality that this is one of the most visited clubs on a Saturday. No matter what it adds to the very relaxed mood in here, you can’t be a prude and party here.
