There are plenty of very nice coffee places in my neighbourhood, like Riccos and Cubs Coffee Bar – which makes very decent coffee I might add – but my favourite is Kosta Kaffebar. Despite the name, there’s no connection between Kosta in Copenhagen and Costa Coffee in the UK.
It’s a little further away from where I live than the first two, but has something the others don’t: they serve my favourite brew from The Coffee Collective, which is by far the best coffee in Copenhagen! And it’s the only place on the entire island that carries the brand.
Not many tourists find their way to my part of town and that’s a pity, ’cause there are lots of nice places on Amager. So when you have finished your coffee, I suggest a small detour in the neighborhood starting at the cobbled end of Norgesgade – make note of the troll with the tree growing out of his head above the window in number 5 on Anders Henriksen Street – then continue down Norgesgade and turn left down Kongedybet where you’ll you reach a row of small colourful townhouses from the 1870s on Sverrigsgade. You will easily get back to your starting point via Hallandsgade or Sverrigsgade.
