There are days when getting to work is so hard that a caffeine infusion is needed in order to arrive at all.
Every day on my way to the office I pass several obvious coffee oases like Det Vide Hus and CPH Sandwich & Coffee, but at the moment my favourite is Kosta Kaffebar. Despite the name, there’s no connection between Kosta in Copenhagen and Costa Coffee in the UK.
Here I get an occasional take-away coffee in the morning, but it has also become the convenient meet-up for me and one of my oldest friends who lives in the area, since it takes us both about 10 minutes to get to work from here. And about their coffee: they serve my favourite brand from The Coffee Collective, which is by far the best coffee in Copenhagen!
Not many tourists find their way to this part of town and that’s a pity, ’cause there are lots of nice places on Amager. So when you have finished your coffee, I suggest a small detour in the neighborhood starting at the cobbled end of Norgesgade – make note of the troll with the tree growing out of his head above the window in number 5 on Anders Henriksen Street – then continue down Norgesgade and turn left down Kongedybet where you’ll you reach a row of small colourful townhouses from the 1870s on Sverrigsgade. You will easily get back to your starting point via Hallandsgade or Sverrigsgade.
