First Copenhagen got Torvehallerne, which was a wise and trend-setting decision for quality food. Then came the very cool and hyped Papirøen with all it’s trendy food stands. A few other projects like them failed along the way, but we have a new kid in the town of Vesterbro called Westmarket.
It used to be a place you would never visit! A dark tunnel-like building with loser shops and bad supermarkets, but luckily someone decided for quality instead so they opened up a trendy food court. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but it was much needed on lively Vesterbrogade street.
Even though it’s more expensive than most street food and even though Danes are known for being introverted, we still love to hang out in trendy places. So as long as we have beer and food, we love to socialize ;).
I recognize a few brands in here (chain-restaurants) and some I wouldn’t visit myself, but to name a few original ones, I would recommend Fiskur for it’s Icelandic touch; the friendly Pakistani brothers Shane & Bobby at Zahida (see picture above); the only-Gin&Tonic bar Two Socks (oh my god!) and the VERY retro, very Danish and very original bottled-beer-supermarket Arnes (an old Danish name) … just to name a few.
