About me
I am originally from Bogotá, Colombia and moved to Dublin following work; not mine, rather, my husband’s. I left Colombia at a young age, only to make NYC my home.
After making a life in the US, I met my lovely husband and life got even more exciting; we’ve now lived in 3 different countries and traveled to over 17 countries in the last 2 years! Our two previous homes were in Halle an der Saale, Germany and North Carolina, USA.
In Germany, I worked as an English teacher; that was quite an experience and it definitely taught me that teachers have the toughest job out there. In the US, I was a radiation technologist. You had a broken bone? I took a picture of it! Amazingly rewarding work and never gave me a boring day.
Here in Dublin, I am concentrating on home and getting to know my city. Exploring her nooks and crannies and getting to taste all her flavors and experiencing her multiple personalities. Taking photographs is a ridiculous hobby of mine. I don’t follow techniques or whatever professional photographers follow when taking a shot; I go by feeling alone. If the moment or the subject feel “right” I take a snapshot.
Why do I love Dublin?
It takes me to my childhood! Dublin’s got the weather we love so much. We both come from colder, rainier, and forever green cities — Portland & Bogotá so Dublin’s the perfect match here in Europe.
Dublin is close to nature, full of life, and surrounded by people of all backgrounds and nationalities!
Another thing that pulls me to Dublin or Dubs, as I like to call it, is the ridiculous number of musical acts that come through on a daily basis. Great music, great venues, and an amazing time to be had without the pretentiousness of larger cities around this part of the world.
We live in a mews house; for those of you that might not be familiar with the term, it is a former horse stable! No horses here now. The place can be a little too cold from time to time, but it definitely has that Dublin character and charm written all over its walls. It has also “seen” a lot of the country’s history, as it was built in 1864. I suppose that the mews house is my ultimate spot in Dublin and I would not trade it for anything in the world!
