Royal Canal – Evening walks in the North

If you think that there is not much to discover in the Dublin North side you are wrong! I enjoy running, walking or rollerblading and recommend Royal Canal as the best place to do these activities. In my experience the Royal Canal is not as crowded as its extension in the South.

Enjoy rollerblading or skating? The smooth long path along the canal might be an ideal spot for this purpose, my friend often brings his skateboard there after work.

Are you more a fan of running? Music in your ears, speed and wind – this is all possible here! Other than that, I made an exciting discovery the other time I went to the Canal for a walk: a statue of Brendan Behan (displayed on the picture), an Irish poet that looked so authentic in the evening light that I was almost going to talk to him, thinking that he turned to me for a small talk too. Behan is considered to be one of the best Irish writers of all time, so I was extremely pleased to encounter him that night. Find him yourself if you happen to pass by the place, it is pretty easy, right at the southern entrance to the canal!

Walking along the water I cannot help taking pictures of beautiful Dublin. Join me there next time!
