Slice D7 – The perfect neighbourhood cafe

Slice is the place that has converted me to brunch. As someone who hates eggs, coffee and being awake before noon, it was always going to be a hard sell. Slice is a sister restaurant of the Cake Cafe, and getting a reputation around town for its lovely brunch with dishes like fancy beans on toast and carrot pancakes. You can also get cocktails, for those in need of some hair of the dog.

The first time I went, they were offering macaroni and cheese, for brunch, like I always dreamed could happen. Slice is also open for breakfast and lunch during the week, with gourmet sandwiches and lovely old fashioned proper homemade cakes. You can get coffee and cakes to take away as well. The cafe itself is pretty small, with seats for about 30 people, so you might encounter a queue, but it’s definitely worth waiting it out. They also have a lovely range of homewares to buy with  vibrant graphic prints.
