I like Smithfield Square because it is 20 min away from the busy streets in the city center however it still is quite lively, mainly during many of the events which take place here.
Lots of music, pet and sport events take place in Smithfield Square, and most of the times they are free, which is great.
Check out the website to see which events are scheduled to take place soon.
If there is no events at the moment, don’t worry, Smithfield has some of the best cafes, restaurants and bars, together with attractions as the Jameson Distillery / Museum and the Light House Cinema.
Make sure you don’t miss the Stormzy mural in Haymarket Street, turning left right after the playground when coming from the Luas Tram stop, it is quite big and very good. I first saw it on the news, it is even more impressive in real life.
If you like arcade games, “Token” may be the place for you as it is a restaurant and bar with lots of arcade machines, check it out.
The Cobblestone, which is one of the most popular traditional music pubs in Dublin, is also located in Smithfield.
At the top of the square there is a small green which is great to sit down and have a picnic.
