The Fumbally – Industrial chic cafe

The Fumbally cafe is a big, light filled industrial space that seems more reminiscent of Berlin or Copenhagen. Friends visiting from East London said it reminded them of home. A pulled pork sandwich is by now obligatory in Dublin cafes, but The Fumbally provides one of the best out there. It also wins prizes for being both the best, in my opinion, lunch place in Dublin 8, and the most fun cafe name to say in Dublin.

It’s filled with salvaged furniture, and the lunch counters heave with beautiful salads and bread. The pulled porchetta sandwich with caper mayo is a daily stalwart, as well as falafel, with daily sandwich, soup and salad specials. They also serve a tasty sounding breakfast. Their food is ethically sourced and local and organic where possible.

It’s close to tourist attractions like St.Patrick’s Cathedral and the Guinness Storehouse, but feels like a local secret. This is a place to linger over a coffee with a good book and soak up the atmosphere.

They close for their summer holidays from 1-10 August annually.
