A labyrinthine little pub full of nooks and crannies, wood-panelling, and monkey-themed art, Brass Monkey is a student favourite, although space for a big group can be hard to find on the weekend.
It’s just across the road from the majestic Old College, but tucked away down Drummond Street, set back from the footfall on South Bridge. They serve excellent pints of ale, and if you fancy a quick soup-and-sandwich, you’ve come to the right place. If this doesn’t quite get your heart racing, walk on to the back of the pub, as Brass Monkey has a secret… A large cinema room, made up of mattresses spread across the floor, complete with small tables with slots for your pint of beer. Screenings are every day at 15:00, so if you’re planning a lazy day, you can’t really go wrong here.
Beware though, it can be hard to leave..
