Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market brings local food producers to the heart of the city every Saturday morning. Usually there are around 50 stall holders each week, the majority of whom are producing the food that they sell. Although there are some changes each week there are a couple of regular attendees worth looking out for. Scottish Borders based Well Hung and Tender sell grass fed Aberdeen Angus beef burgers cooked while you wait.
If you have a sweeter tooth, the Borders tablet stall is worth a visit. Tablet is a Scottish sweet which is made from sugar, butter and condensed milk, a childhood favourite for all Scots. There are a few non food producers too. Caurnie Soap have been in the natural soap business for nearly a hundred years, and produce great natural ingredient based soaps and shampoos.
Or if you are looking for a unique souvenir – how about a wild deer skin from the Barrhead Leather stall?
