After a long period of renovation, my favourite pool in Edinburgh has opened it’s doors again, and it’s lovely old victorian charm is wonderful to have back! Glenogle pool is a place to come escape the city, it can be busy and it can be luxuriously quiet and is set in a beautiful part of the city, perfect for taking a wonder through the streets of Stockbridge, checking out the colony houses and then jumping in the pool.
The pool is nothing fancy or luxurious and is actually one of the council owned gyms, but it is wonderful getting to swim in a piece of history. I love taking a long swim and popping into the steam room and sauna to get rid of all the toxins from a long weekend of drinking (something that us Scots often need to do!)
The swimming pool is part of larger building that hosts a small but modern gym and a fitness room, so if you feel you’ve eaten far too many deep friend Mars bars and fish and chips, you can pop along for only a small all inclusive price to use the facilities. My tip would be to check the pool times on the website and come in the middle of day at its quietest and enjoy a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
