A small, rock’n’rolly kind of place to the west of the city centre, Henry’s Cellar Bar is, you guessed it, a bar in a cellar.
They play host to a LOT of music, a proper little hive of activity. The club nights and gigs are so diverse that it’s hard to say what you’ll get. At the time of writing, for example, they have punk folk, moody jazz and rock pop acts lined up… But there’s always some good live musos playing Henry’s, and the place draws an interesting crowd who are into their music. Entry is usually a few quid for events. They’ve also got a spanking-new sound system, so audio is darn good compared to most bars. Check out their website for upcoming events.
As an alternative to the The Jazz Bar, every Monday night brings with it Henry’s jam session, with local musicians sitting in. If you fancy it, head up afterwards for a few White Russians at Lebowskis, just above (check the Lebowskis article)!
