Soderberg set up by an Edinburgh based Swede has now spawned six branches across the city.(there are branches to the south of the city centre at Quartermile and on Broughton Steet). However, their experience in all things ‘bakery’ shows with a great range of Scandinavian inspired breads and cakes. Look out for their crispbreads, or the sourdough breads (try the levain) great for a picnic at The Botanics nearby!
I go for an Artisan Roast espresso and a cardamon bun. It sounds unusual but tastes great. As you would expect they have also got some Scandinavian inspired sandwiches and treats, if you stop by for lunch. The Stockbridge branch has recently had a complete renovation. Unfortunately the pizza oven and the outdoor seating have gone, but there is now a floor to ceiling window, which if you are lucky will be open. Perfect for a bit of people watching, if there is a spare seat!
