Have you ever wanted to visit a biscuit factory? Well now you can! Technically the biscuit machines have all shut up and gone but in its place is something even cooler.
The Biscuit Factory is an arts and fashion hub, and it works a much-needed venue in Edinburgh’s arts and music scene. The interior is artsy with a hard edge and hosts a variety of events ranging from fashion shows to food markets. It is located in the Leith/Pilrig area, which historically was an area of industry and, subsequently, poverty. Yet projects and spaces like The Biscuit Factory are beginning to bring new light to the area and give people a reason to come and visit these parts of Edinburgh, and when we have such a beautiful, old historical centre, sometimes it can be hard to get off that beaten path and visit some of the less beautiful but authentic parts of the city.
Come and check this place out when there’s a club night on: the industrial architecture and big open spaces fit the music perfectly and create the scene for an intense sound adventure, or come here to hang out with friends while eating some of Edinburgh’s most amazing street food at one of their monthly markets, and if you have the time, try and see some of the surrounding areas, as these are the places that you will see real Scottish people and how some of us live.
