The Edinburgh Salon is a monthly supper club based on the concept of Jim Haynes 30-year-old Paris Salon. This salon is a little younger, having only started a couple of years ago, and happens once a month rather than every Sunday. The location also changes every month and is only available the day before the event to those who’ve registered.
The menu is a set three courses with options for dietary requirements if need be, just let them know when you sign up. It changes each month (as can the chef) but hopefully the chocolate mousse with drunken cherries they served the first time I visited, or the sangria that was on offer when the salon visited Goya 23, will come round again – both were phenomenal! There is also always both red and white wine to match the meal.
As much as I loved the meal and exploring different venues, to me the most amazing thing about the evening was the opportunity to meet people I wouldn’t normally come across. Both visitors to the city and locals alike attend the salon so it’s a great opportunity to learn more about the world, and all for only £30. I’m looking forward to the next one already!
