If you’re in the mood to get out from the center I can recommend this simple hamburger truck right at the river Arno. You can easily arrive by getting on a bus, riding a bike or walking around half an hour from the city center. On a sunny day it’s super nice to get a burger and a beer or organic apple juice at La Toraia. I like the difference in the air and mood, even though the distance from the center isn’t really that big. Besides the simple and economic menu that really offers great quality, La Toraia has a terrace and a few low tables with very comfortable chairs where you can chill for a while after your meal.
This food truck in Florence is the fruit of an old meat tradition at the farm La Toraia, dating back to the 1930’s, when the farm first started to breed Chianina cattle. The Chianina takes its name from Val di Chiana in Tuscany and is one of the oldest cattle breeds in the world. The name “Toraia” actually means “breeding shed” in Italian. That was just a small piece of history about this high-quality Tuscany meat (the same is used to make Bistecca alla Fiorentina) so that you know what you put your teeth into at La Toraia food truck.
