Though I willingly admit to being largely uninformed when it comes to contemporary coffee culture (isn’t a flat white really just a cappuccino with two espresso shots?), I do appreciate a quality brew and a barista who can actually foam some milk. Frankfurt has a smattering of establishments that cater to these requirements, however one of the newest that I particularly enjoy is Aniis in Frankfurt’s Ostend neighborhood.
The small café is hidden around the corner from the European Central Bank and offers a variety of coffee plus small eats (cake, sandwiches, and the like) for visitors. The space is beautifully decorated, with wooden elements dominating the interior. They also have a small area just outside the door where you can enjoy your coffee on the street during the warmer months.
As Aniis is not the largest, it tends to fill up quite quickly on weekend, therefore be prepared to take your coffee with you. However, it’s not the type of coffee shop where people sit all day working on laptops, hence spaces tend to open up relatively quickly. Otherwise grab a quality cup of joe and head down to the not-too-distant Main.
