I admit it: I usually don’t buy organic food. And I like mango way too much to only shop for local fruit and veggies. But I still love the farmers market! Fresh produce from local farmers, freshly baked bread, homemade jam and many other treats are available only here, every Thursday and Saturday. And where people come to shop, they also come to eat: Many stalls offer snacks and drinks, from grilled sausage to Chardonnay.
While the food is a little more pricey than in a supermarket, the quality makes it worthwhile. And I just love walking across the market early on Saturday morning, and picking out the ingredients for a home cooked meal with friends.
Most places in Frankfurt make you feel a little posh, with its busy street, modern architecture and well-dressed people. When visiting the market, you can forget about all that – it feels just like a village around there! So don’t miss out on the wonderful atmosphere!
