When visiting Frankfurt you should not miss walking down its famous pedestrian road the Fressgasse all the way down to the old Opera (‘Alte Oper’). On this pedestrian road you can find many shops and delicatessen stores and it is the absolute meeting place during lunch time.
During my lunch break I often prefer Ebert’s Suppenstube. Ebert is actually a famous butcher and delicatessen shop in Frankfurt. What most people do not know is that the owners also run a small soup bistro, where you can find the best soups in Frankfurt. But even if you are not a fan of soups during the summer, grab a sausage!
If you are more in favour of a healthy lunch then the fresh, homemade soups served in Ebert are ideal. I still cannot decide whether I like the lentils soup or the potato soup more, but I still dream sometimes of their yummy pumpkin soup. During the lunch hour there is usually a big queue (as you can see!), but it is moving quickly. When queuing, I often try to memorize the soup recipes hanging on the wall… Many guests prefer to have, next to a soup, a grilled sausage or another sandwich, the quality and taste thereof is guaranteed; remember I told you the owners originally owned a delicatessen store?
