If the name of the “Fette henne” wasn’t this creative and exceptional I would have never entered this inconspicuous-looking restaurant. Lucky me, I always wondered what might be inside. After reading several reviews, I suggested going here after an evening at the Friedberger Markt.
All of my friends and I were positively surprised by the patio and the unpretentious, but chic and homely interior. We all really enjoy eating a full-course menu, but do not want to spend a fortune in a stiff atmosphere.
The chef and owner of the Fette henne has a similarly special name, being Huckleberry Schneider and says in an interview that he specializes in “honest” cuisine with fresh ingredients.
This is notable as prices are reasonable, but the menus are special. The dishes are down-to-earth, but imaginative and taste fresh. The service staff is friendly, but laid-back; exactly what I am looking for.
And then we found out that the name does not actually refer to a fat chicken, but to the herb lambs-quarters. I would book a table again straight away – for a dinner date, an evening with friends or for Saturday dinner with my parents. A getaway for any occasion.
