Freitagsküche – Not only on Fridays

Some of the nicest places in every city are almost impossible to find, if you don’t already know where to find them. The freitagsküche (Friday’s kitchen) is one of them. Hidden within a yard between two five-story buildings, this cozy little lunch spot offers fresh, healthy, but also tasty meals during lunch hours. On top of that, on Fridays visitors can enjoy a full-sized dinner, as well as special events like cocktails with lounge music or cooking classes. Since the restaurant is quite small, with some space outside, if the weather is nice enough, you should be quick, especially on Fridays, because they don’t allow reservations!

The menu changes quite frequently, with weekly and monthly specials. They even serve homemade pies! Still, the main reason for me to come here is the relaxed atmosphere. Everything is open, you can even peek into the kitchen while you order your food at the counter. The room is usually filled with tables and colourful chairs, so you have to squeeze through, especially when it is busy. Still, if you are looking for a cozy place away from the crowded streets, you should check this place out!
