I love sleeping in on weekends, and having an extended breakfast/lunch once I get up, no matter how late it already is. If you have a passion for French pastry, I’d suggest you try one of the “Maison du Pain” breakfast locations.
The one closest to me in Frankfurt’s Westend, right at the U-Bahn station “Westend”, is the one indicated below, but there is also one in Sachsenhausen (Schweizer Straße 63).
The atmosphere in the stores is very French- the interior looks just like a French bakery. It’s mainly decorated with wood, as well as the tables and chairs, and there is French music playing. There are plenty of deliciously looking croissants, brioches, tartes and freshly baked bread in the Displays and a a small offer of French wines, liquors, jam and chocolates is also available.
Of course, you may just stop by and buy your choice of rolls and pastry for your breakfast at home – not to forget the croissants that are to-die-for – but one can really indulge in the atmosphere by starting with a sweet breakfast and coffee, and then going over to something more savoury and a glass of wine or cider.
There are typical French dishes on the menu such as different kinds of tartes flambées, quiches, but also toasted sandwiches, soups and very delicious salads.
