Do you like fresh food directly from its producers? I love to buy from local small businesses, and the food market in Sachsenhausen’s Brückenviertel offers a great place to meet friends and enjoy locally produced snacks, coffee and cider right at the spot.
While Brückenviertel, with lots of nice little designer shops, cafés (e.g. the Bizziice shop) and other specialty stores, is worth a visit itself, Markt im Hof is located right in the middle of this vivid area. Bus line 36 stops at “Elisabethenstraße” which is very close by, but it is also within a short walking distance from Konstablerwache or Frankfurt’s flea market (check the article here).
Most vendors at the market are rather offering prepared dishes such as burgers, crepes/galettes, sweet and savory waffles, homemade cakes and other international food. But there are some booths where you can get specialties to take home such as freshly baked bread from “Zeit für Brot”, olive oil, honey, jams and cheese, as well as beer and “Äppler”, Frankfurt’s famous cider, or coffee from Frankfurt-based coffee brewery Hoppenworth & Ploch.
Be sure to come with plenty of time and a large appetite, so you can try and share all different offerings from all the booths before you decide what you’d like to take home with you.
Markt im Hof is open each Saturday from 10:00 – 18:00, and busiest times are around Lunchtime.
There are benches and sitting options both inside and outside- but despite rainy days, outside is of course the better option.
