Many around Frankfurt are familiar with the craft beer bar/restaurant Naïv just off the River Main and a short walk from Konstablerwache/the city center. However, its direct neighbor, Moloko+, is much less known, despite sharing many similarities with the popular beer spot.
Like Naïv, Moloko+ has a spacious and pleasantly decorated interior, though the latter space is less “man cave” and provides more of a refined atmosphere, with a café style arrangement and many retro design elements including furniture, lamps, and other decorations. The bar/café also has a large and inviting patio, which extends around the corner to Kurt-Schumacher Straße; this smaller portion of the patio is covered by the overhang of the accompanying building, hence I like to enjoy my beverage there, protected from the elements.
Though Moloko+ has a wide selection of wine and beer, the bar is known for its cocktail selection, so come prepared to shell out a little more for your drink. On weekends there’s often a DJ and/or some other form of entertainment; they’re almost always projecting a cartoon or movie from the 1970s-1980s on Friday and Saturday nights, and sometimes they show digital artists’ work, like the laser show I saw the last time I was there.
With the warm weather, the terrace at Moloko+ is great nearly any time of day. Grab an after work drink during the week or spend a weekend afternoon with brunch and a coffee. Or a few.
