I must be honest in saying that the brunch is a trend I rarely comply with. Maybe because I wake up far earlier, maybe because I am just not used to it – truth is, brunch is something I rarely do.
When this friend invited me for a brunch, I responded with enthusiasm! Among the guests suggestions were aplenty, and in the end, the choice fell on Nordlicht.
Directly facing Friedbergerplatz, at a first glance this cozy restaurant does not seem to promise much. So much for first impressions!
The buffet is rich and varied. At Nordlicht you find all kinds of delicacies you should expect from a seriously established brunch: coffee, tea and juices; cakes, toasts and waffles; eggs, sausages and cold meats. Aside from the usuals, however, the offer from vegetarian and vegan dishes is what makes Nordlicht truly special. Sautéed vegetables, stewed lentils, grilled aubergine and courgette, tabbouleh, roasted potatoes, warm and cold salads – the selection is endless, and on Saturdays the buffet is entirely vegan/vegetarian.
You can enjoy the brunch at Nordlicht every weekend between 10:00 and 16:00, for € 12.90 (drinks aside). Keep in mind that you should book in advance to guarantee a place! Nordlicht’s brunch is so popular that people are encouraged not to stay longer than 2h, in order to allow others to take their place. Just make your time slot worth it!
Special hint: If you sit at the Winter garden (not as warm as inside, yet comfortable nevertheless), the first warm drink is for free!
