Paula is a hidden gem within today’s landscape of franchise coffee bars and bistros.
The location is within walking distance from Grüneburgpark and Palmengarten and is great for a coffee break after a stroll.
Marina, the owner, offers a small but delicious lunch menu from Tuesdays till Sundays (on Sundays there is a buffet from 11:00 – 15:00, € 14,90) and pastry to die for (gluten-free choices as well) with your coffee or tea throughout the day. The menu always includes vegetarian/vegan options and is displayed daily on Paula’s Facebook page. Don’t hesitate to ask for small alterations- the staff will try their best to meet your wishes.
Each Thursday their “Maultaschen-Burger” (Maultasche = a Swabian specialty) is available on the menu, and on Fridays, “Kässpätzle” (special noodles with plenty of cheese) are a regularity.
When approaching the location, there are a few inviting seats outside where you may catch some sun on pretty days, but there is also more space available inside. Still, Paula is a comparably tiny spot, and I can imagine it to be very crowded during lunch at weekdays (I have only been there on weekends).
The interior reminds me of a little French or Danish bakery and the whole place with its lovely decoration lets you leave your busy schedule outside right away.
Paula also offers a selection of interior accessories and teas to buy and take some of the peaceful and happy spirit of this little coffee place home with you.
