The Schopenhauer is a nice little bar. Not stylish, not trendy, it is neither a “place to be” nor a typical “hot spot”. The bar is just a good old classical German Kneipe (pub) around the corner. The probably most well-known-event is the Monday evening “pasta all you can eat” for only € 7.50. Also the other dishes are more down-to-earth than “haute cuisine”.
The Sunday morning brunch includes even sparkling whine and juices without limit for only € 18 and it starts at 10:00.
It is just 5 min. from my place and a good location for a billiard match with friends. Next to the bar is a small room with an old but still fully functional pool-table.
Old Schopenhauer, who lived and died in Frankfurt, would have had a lot of fun there. He died in 1860 in his villa at the riverside (Schöne Aussicht 16) of the Main. If you’re interested in philosophy and/or cemeteries you can visit his grave at the “Hauptfriedhof” (main cemetery) of Frankfurt.
Located in the center of “Frankfurt-Bornheim” you can get there very easily by subway U4 (station: Höhenstraße).
