You have probably visited the Palmengarten of Frankfurt (if not, this is your chance!). It is indeed a special location in the city. Here you can lie on the grass on a sunny day or even rent a small boat in the pond. But even on a rainy day you can escape to the greenhouses with exotic flowers and palm trees! A highlight of this beautiful spot of the city is its coffee house, the Siesmayer. In Siesmayer you will probably feel like you’re lost in another city; Vienna or London could compete.
Frankfurt has many nice and casual cafes, but this is different. The staff is friendly, but discreet, making you feel like royalty with all the porcelain and linen tableware. The variety of tea selections and potteries give you the impression you are in the UK, whereas the Torten (pastries) and the indoor environment reminds me of Vienna. Remember you can take some home with you to boost your week.
The audience is very mixed and includes Omas and Opas having coffee, families with their kids enjoying lunch or young couples craving a late breakfast. I love this fancy place on early Sunday mornings; I like drinking my coffee over the Sunday paper on the summer terrace, while watching the other loud and colourful guests. As long as the weather is good, you can enjoy their beautiful terrace, which is part of the beautiful Palmengarten.
