It’s summer and summer means festival time to people who love music, theatre, or culture in general. Just around the same time Stoffel takes place at the park (check the Stoffel article), this festival is situated right by the Main river.
If possible, I would go to the theatre or museum all the time, but in summer I do not feel like staying indoors. The Sommerwerft festival is the perfect alternative and it’s free as well.
There are different theatre and dance performances, live music or poetry-slams. Last year I tried Silent Disco for the first time and really enjoyed it, but I think it’s even better watching others dancing with their headphones on, wondering what music style they might be listening to.
Some of the performances take place outdoors, some inside the theatre tent and some in this Bedouin tent, like the piano concert I went to one weekend.
On Sundays there is a flea market starting at 15:00 giving the festival an Oriental flair.
In 2017 the Sommerwerft Festival will take place from July 21st to the 6th of August.
