I discovered “Süden” by accident. The original plan was to go to another location. But there it was too crowded and we couldn’t find a table. The bar next door seemed to be very cozy and a good alternative.
Once I stepped in, I soon realized that “Süden” had a high potential to become one of my favorite bars in town. It’s a perfect hideout painted in warm colors and an individual and unadorned design. Despite its location directly on one of Frankfurt’s liveliest street “Berger Straße”, the prices were very reasonable, almost cheap.
The kitchen offers little snacks and mainly antipasti & tapas from Southern Europe. I had the mixed tapas plate and a chorizo: everything was great. The selection of wine is very limited (only one red and one white wine) but the quality compensates the quantity.
Last orders are already at 00:00 so it’s better to get there early in the evening; you see, there are limits to German “Southerness”!
